Hippo Dx, a MedTech startup, was born in 2020 out of the need for automation, standardization, and digitization in skin prick allergy testing. Today, 30% of the world's population suffers from allergies, but 45% face initial misdiagnosis. Co-founded by dr. Senne Gorris, an ear-nose-throat surgeon, the limitations of manual testing prompted him to envision an innovative solution. Joined by Wim Hofkens, a Mechatronics Engineer, and Peter De Roovere, a Software Engineer, they developed S.P.A.T. (Skin Prick Automated Test), a state-of-the-art medical device for allergy testing and diagnosis. Developed by physicians and designed for patients, S.P.A.T. offers faster, more accurate and consistent allergy testing in a cost-efficient way.
About the role
We are looking for a new team member to join our R&D department. We value your positivity, growth mindset, and integrity more than your years of experience. Key Responsibilities
As a Junior Software Engineer you will be responsible for the development of the application software running on our devices, written in Kotlin and JavaFX
You will be a part of the development team for the whole product.
Depending on your interests, you will have the chance to collaborate on all aspects of our medical device: C firmware, Python data tools, cloud infrastructure, AI model, electronics, electromechanics, commercial, quality management, …
About you

You have experience with Java or Kotlin
You are a driven and ambitious team player with a hands-on mentality, eager to learn and grow together with our small but quickly growing start-up company
You have an eye for detail and easily put yourself in the shoes of our end users
You are motivated, pragmatic, and solution-oriented
You have a creative mindset and a great sense of responsibility
You have experience with medical or hospital software
You have a Master degree in a technical field or equivalent by experience.
You have experience working on projects in a team
